Subject: Fun Firsts In Granville

Hi Mom-Mom,
I went on my first vacation with dad and mama to Granville! Granville is a small town in the hills of Tennessee where there are bunnies at every bend and the butterflies bump into you. They have a little marina and an old general store. We stayed at Uncle John’s tree house up in the clouds on top of Eagle Mountain! About 150 people live in Granville. They go to the Methodist church and don’t care much for President Obama. They do care a lot about their local politics and promise to bake you a pie if you register to vote.

I sat up in my pack-n-play for the first time while we were in Granville. Dad says that means it’s time to lower my crib. I also got to meet my other great grandmother. Her name is Betty. She goes by GiGi and has an infectious laugh.

They don’t have TV’s, phones or the wild world web in Granville so we came up with new ways to entertain ourselves. We read books, played cards, went on walks, listened to thunder-boomers, went boating and fishing, fed some ducks, built some fires, ate s’mores and took all of our showers outside.  Uncle Brian made homemade ice cream and on a trip to the old general store, dad bought me a Granville monkey and a book about their lake to take home as a souvenir.

Love,
Garrett
