Hi Mom-Mom,
Today we remembered my other great grandmother. Her name was Cory but most people called her Gg. She was born in Spotsylvania Virginia in 1921. She was adopted when she was six months old by Captain Edgar and Margaret Carver. Captain Edgar was a seaman and his ancestors came to America from England on a big flower boat one May.

She grew up in Hamilton and was a graduate of Eastern High School. She married my great grandfather, Fred Mueller in 1942. He served in the Pacific during World War II and when he returned they became bakers and opened The Dutch Oven Bakery. My great grandfather died in 1971.

Gg had two children, five grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She died the day after I was born and my first outing as a newborn was to her memorial service. Mama said she was a wonderful grandmother. She was generous and kind and had a lead foot. Mama inherited her lead foot and that’s why she sometimes drives a little too fast.

May 29th was Gg’s birthday and she would have been 90 years old. We had a memorial picnic to celebrate her life at the brick garden at Stella Maris where she lived for as long as Mama can remember. We ate her favorite foods, sang happy birthday to her, wrote messages on balloons and sent them up to her in heaven.

Love,
Garrett

I Found My Voice

Hi Mom-Mom,

My parents don’t speak baby, which makes communicating with them a little challenging. I’ve got lots to say and no matter how loud I squeal, they don’t seem to understand! They just look at me, smile and comment to each other. I’m working on learning to speak words out loud so we can communicate better. Dada is the first word I said out loud! I’m expanding my vocabulary and will be conversing like a pro in no time.

Love,
Garrett

My Fun-cation to Virginia

Hi Mom-Mom,

Grammy and Grand Pop treated Mama and I to a fun-cation! We went to Virginia with my cousins Kyle, Liam, Jess, Gavin, Anna Banana and my friends James, Ben and Henry. We left before dawn cracked to beat the rush hour and so we would sleep in the car on the way. We didn’t sleep a wink, but I’m pretty sure we beat the rush hour.

We went to Williamstown and saw a fife and drum brigade!  We marched in a parade and watched soldiers shoot a real cannon and muskets. We visited the Jamesburg Settlement where I met the tool maker’s assistant… I think she kinda liked me. We tried on metal armor and saw how canoes and tools and food were made in the old days. We even went on a big ship. On the last day we went to Busch Gardens. The rides looked fun but I was too little to try them out. Mom says we’ll be back when I’m older.

I don’t think we beat the rush hour on the way home because it took over five hours. I was so happy when we pulled in our driveway and I got to see my dad.  We were away for three days and I really missed him.

Love,
Garrett

Hi Mom-Mom,
I’m bananas about baby food! I’ve tried carrots, peas, green beans, sweet potatoes, apple sauce, peaches and bananas. Banana is my new favorite word and food! Quite fitting, given my monkey status.

Garrett

Hi Mom-Mom,
I’m proud to inform you I now can sit up all by myself! My chunk has served me well and proven to be a nice cushion in all the tumbling and toppling that comes with learning to sit. I turned some of my chunk into muscle and my new washboard abs make siting up a piece of cake. I’m looking good for the ladies too, just in time for summer.

Stay Cool,
Garrett

Hi Mom-Mom,
I love my Anna Banana.  We go together like a monkey and a banana!  She’s older than me by four months, but I’m heavier than her by four pounds.  Sometimes her legs flap in excitement when she sees me!  I think she’s pretty cool too.  She’s a busy banana… she sits and crawls and stands all by herself.  One minute she’s on top of me and the next she’s off exploring.  She especially enjoys exploring the fridge.  She eats grown up food and seems to love it even though it makes her poop stink.  I might give it a try.

Love,
Garrett

Hi Mom-Mom,
I’m six months old already and to mark the occasion I had a half birthday! To celebrate Dad got me an authentic red Radio Flyer wagon! Mama got me a superman t-shirt! She says every boy needs a superman t-shirt. I even got a cool new monkey from Andrea and a monkey book too! I like half birthdays. I hear that Grammy is making me a monkey cake for my whole birthday. Can’t wait!

Love,
Garrett
